Just got home from our Central Region MV SHOUT and the ongoing theme is about being a disciple. Here is a definition that best describes how I understand it.
Disciple: one who EMBRACES and ASSISTS in spreading the teachings of another
I think it’s so beautiful that we have the opportunity to do His work here on earth. We ought to grab every moment we are given to respond to this call. St. John Paul II states that “The Lord invites us to put out into the deep with trust in His word.” Often times, we hesitate to ‘walk on water’ or ‘fight our giants’ because we focus too much on our weaknesses. But the Voice of Truth says “DO NOT BE AFRAID!” Our personal journeys and our love story with the Lord will be our testimony to the world. When we are called to do His work, we can be assured that we will not be forsaken; He will never leave us. Matthew 16: 18-19 states, “And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not prevail against it. I will give you the keys to the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”
Let’s be the ‘Peter’ of our Generation. He may have been unworthy; he even denied Jesus three times, but God still used Him to be the successor of His church. We never know what the Lord has planned for us. But we need to realize that whatever it may be, it will be a blessing. All we need to say is YES, LORD! “HERE I AM, SEND ME!”- Isaiah 6: 8
