Gift of Mission

September 27,2014

Teopoli, Ontario

Lord thank you for giving me this mission of Loving you deeper each day. For sharing your joy to other people through me. You affirm me in prayer and actions done for you. I am not worthy to serve you and I don’t think I will ever be.  Despite that you entrust me with your work and I am forever grateful. Praise you for your Love oh God, praise you for your greatness, praise you for your forgiveness, praise you for everything that you are Lord. There is nothing more beautiful than your promise fulfilled in us. In living out that promise may I not only be physically in your image but also spiritually one with you. That I may be more human as you intended me to be each passing day.

Amen

Start of Something New!

“You who seek God, let your hearts revive!”

The Lord has been truly truly great.

This weekend, I was honored to first time over-see a youth camp happening within my chapter here in the Pacific. Just reflecting on the journey of the chapter and the limited time I’ve been with my household serving, I was so hesitant to step in and do all the work, and just ensure that everything was going according to schedule.

Oh man, of course…you know the Lord had something to say about that.

I was definitely blessed to witness the growth of faith in my household. The way they opened themselves up to the Lord, to people they have never met before…it was honestly a prayer that came true…very fast. I was overwhelmed in awe for God.

Really, how coincidental was it that the Camp was also called Camp Revival. Where the Lord had revived the hearts of even those serving others this weekend. Thank You LORD.

Sometimes the Lord calls us to be witnesses to allow us to see Him literally work first hand in the people you love…this is something I’ll never forget.

This is definitely the start of something new within our community here in the Pacific. A brother in my household mentioned something about the camp at our last camp meeting.

“God gave us what we need, no what we want.” This is exactly what the Lord needed. Open hearts and a revival of His Spirit.

Let Hope Rise!

Deo Gloria

Christ Pursuit Weekend:

First thing’s first, God is in constant pursuit of us and He will never stop. What a blessing it was to realize that God is doing whatever it takes for us to notice Him, even to a point where He had to send His only begotten Son for us.

Mark Co and Chloe Castillo from SFC GTA actually lead the the weekend and Wow, what a blessing it was for them to come over and lead us to Christ through the retreat.

This weekend was a blessed experience to not only know more about Christ, but to experience His love and be nourished. This was one of those weekends I will never forget. Why? He made me realize something that I really needed a reminder of…

…the Virtue of Patience.

Patience was the one message that really stuck out to me this weekend. Praying for my Vocation has been really consuming my heart, mind and soul lately that it is actually hindering me at times in serving the mission fully. He reminded me that whatever He has planned for me can wait because it is His time and not mine where those plans will be fulfilled.

This weekend reminded me that a year and 4 months in FTPW has been so great, awesome, joyful and blessed. I am so in love with the mission where I get to grow in knowledge about the Faith, God and myself. I am also so blessed I get to share this knowledge and love to people who care for me sooooooo much.

To be called is a privilege and I am so happy I was reminded to savour, cherish and wait patiently for the next step in life.

“Kyle, take it step by step. Be patient with me as I am ALWAYS patient with you.”

The Love Triangle

The title is a bit misleading because what I’m really referring to is the Pyramid of Intimacy, but the shape of the diagram really is a triangle. I think the first time I came across this diagram was in the YouCat which I believe was illustrated by Bill Donaghy, an instructor at the Theology of the Body Institute. It’s a wonderful illustration that clearly defines the proper steps of a long lasting relationship between a man and a woman, with sexual intimacy being the pinnacle—the ultimate gift and expression of true love (free, total, faithful, and fruitful), in a language that is very easy to understand.

It’s very unfortunate how the society we live in today has this pyramid upside down, and it’s no wonder then, how easily marriages and relationships topple over and crumble to pieces. It’s impossible for an inverted pyramid to stay balanced on its tip. It will fall. Drawing on this illustration, if ‘love’ begins with sexual intimacy even before friendship, then we shouldn’t be surprised when everything falls apart. It’s because there was no foundation of friendship—knowing each other better, knowing each other’s families, and so on. As it shows on the diagram, love doesn’t begin at sexual intimacy, it begins at friendship, and if we can truly start from there, then we would see a lot more stable and fruitful marriages. Friend-zone is the place to be if you’re looking for a substantial relationship that would be able to weather the storms and lead to real love, which is true love rooted in Christ. This is achievable through the time, tested, and true way of courtship.

Courtship is basically steps two and three (knowing you better, and knowing your family better), with the blessing of the sister’s parent’s to pursue. Why ask the parents for their blessing? Because if you truly love her, you will honour the ones who love her the most, and you will lead her to fulfill the commandment:

“Honor your father and mother that it may be well with you and that you may live long on the earth.” Ep. 6

If we honour each other’s parents we will live a long and prosperous life, and if we’re in it for the long run (which love should be!) then we need to strive to build a good relationship with each other’s families (most especially the parents) because they are the ones who will also love us for the rest of our lives.

By prayers and the guidance and strength of the Holy Spirit, a man and a woman are truly capable of authentic love. By His grace, we can reach the heights of that conjugal, life-giving act that expresses the love of the Trinity and renews the marriage vows between husband and wife, of being freely, totally, faithfully, and fruitfully each other’s.

The devil knows how great a gift sexual intimacy is. That’s why everything he does aims at distorting and tangling our understanding of our sexuality—as being made male and female, in the image and likeness of God.

We can prevent this from happening by allowing God to tell us who we are and not looking to the world to find our identity. How can we find our identity in a place we are not ultimately made for? It only makes sense to look to the Creator, the Designer, and the Author of our lives to discover our purpose and who we were created to be.

On the illustration above it is written,

“The task of every man is the dignity of every woman. The task of every woman is the dignity of every man.” –St. John Paul II

Let us first begin by discovering our worth and dignity on the Cross, then we will be able to truly see and love each other as we ought.

Amen.

BrotherHood.

It is truly crazy how the Lord has shown me brotherhood in the last 3 days. Everything started on Friday morning when I went to Father Mike Mireau Funeral aka Father Catfish! (if you are wanting to know more about him. He does have a youtube channel) But I got to see priest from parishes all of the Edmonton Archdiocese come together to give their respects to their brother. At the end of the mass Archbishop Smith went down to the casket said a prayer for Father Catfish and then it was silent… Then he started to sing a latin psalm by himself and about 10 seconds later all the priest started to sing with him. It was something I would think I would hear in heaven! This made me understand why they were there and what the Archbishop was talking about in his homily about brotherhood between priest. And it was crazy how One brother, One man, One priest made such a impact in this City! Praise God for such blessed Gift of Father Catfish. You will be missed!

This started my weekend of seeing brotherhood in such a different way. I got a great opportunity to serve at the SOLD conference in Calgary this weekend. And for myself I wasn’t going into it to learn something new. I was there to help out and make sure tech area was running well. But it was crazy to see the brotherhood blossom between brothers that never met before. The reason why it blossom is because each and every brother was rooted in Christ and in that gave them all one thing in common for them to understand one another. By the end of conference during praisefest seeing all the Tito go crazy, sing loud, Dance and to just praise him with all their hearts. This experience was truly amazing to see and such great blessing/gift from God.

God is truly showing the brotherhood that is capable as long as we are rooted in him.

Praise God for showing me this because I have fallen more in love with him and my faith and this community of Couples for Christ!

Beauty in the Struggle

When I saw her come down the stairs, I was happily surprised with the abundance of energy and joy she had. It was my first time seeing her in person since she began her chemo therapy sessions back in July. Before entering the house, I was already aware that she had lost most of her hair this far into her treatment. Myself and a few other sisters were excited to visit her because it had been quite a while since we last met. With the excitement of TNC 2014, SHouTs, and back-to-school adjustments whizzing by, there was lots to catch up on–but more so, we missed her company, her presence.

And there she was, being the wonderful Tita she is, serving us her signature Iced Tea and snacks. She sat before us with a big, warm smile on her face and a toque on her head to keep her warm. We shared many victories and updates among each other. However, she was also very honest with us. She was authentically real in admitting that, sometimes, she can’t help but have those days where it’s a bit more difficult to be happy and joyful than others. But she stressed the importance of not allowing yourself to dwell on your pain, rather allow yourself to go through the motion and unceasingly remain faithful in prayer all the way through. Seek the Lord and you will find Joy in Him alone, and in doing so, His joy will trickle into every aspect of your life.

“Pray without ceasing. In all circumstances give thanks, for this is the will of God for you in Christ Jesus” (1 Thessalonians 5: 17-18).

After leaving her house, I could never forget how radiantly beautiful she looked. I know in my heart that she looked so beautiful because Christ had truly made a worthy dwelling place in her heart as she embraced her cross. She radiated the beauty of Christ so much that she didn’t even appear sick when you looked at her. I couldn’t help but think, ‘Oh, Lord. How beautiful it is when Your daughter allows you to purify her through the cross you bestow upon her.’

I am so humbled to know this sister and have had the honour of serving two beautiful years together in the Campus Based Program for our region. She inspires me to embrace my cross with great poise–with joy, patience, love, and surrender. If there’s at least one thing that you take from this glimpse of her story, I hope it’s this: the cross you bear is the greatest blessing you will ever receive in your life. Though we cannot pick the nature of our own cross, the Lord designs them specifically for us. Like Christ’s journey with his cross, our cross is also our main setting for the greatest Love story .

My Lord and my God, how beautiful it is to struggle with you. I pray that we may always rely on You to embrace and journey with our cross. May we seek in within our own cross as well.
I lift up to you, tonight, my sister, Tita Vangie. Please heal her according to her faith so that she may serve You the way she was created to serve you. Be merciful, oh Lord, and heal her of this cancer.
All praise and glory is yours, Lord.

Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on us.
Immaculate Heart of Mary, pray for us.

God’s timing is perfect timing.

The Lord really does work in such mysterious ways. He also works on His own pace, on His own time to make sure every crack and crevice of His plans are perfect. What He does ask of us in the process is to remain patient and trust that in no time, but His timing, things will work out according to plan.

The past couple months have been very difficult and lately I’ve been feeling very spiritually dry. My prayers started feeling different and attending mass slowly had no affect on me. I became very impatient because I felt that nothing was going right anymore. I tried to avoid everything and I found myself just keeping to myself because I no longer wanted to deal with it.

One day, I received two messages from two sisters, the first message was:

“My child, trust in me. Don’t be afraid to ask Me for the light that I want to pour into your heart and soul. Not only for yourself but for all those I have placed along your path with whom I want you to share the light’s brilliance to. Remember that no matter how dark all might seem around you, My light dwells within you and I am calling you to share it through love and by loving those around you.”

Second message was:

“Sending you a hug, God is still here in your life, even when it’s the middle of the storm.”

The Lord’s timing could not be anymore perfect. I was so blind sighted by the negativity surrounding me, it affected me spiritually, emotionally and physically. Instead of turning to Him, I have the tendency to get sucked into the darkness, not knowing the Lord is simply holding my hand waiting for me to walk back with Him.

I have such a disconnected relationship with the concept of trust and patience. I solely seek the Lord and continue to ask for these two things. Slowly, I started to realize that He’s given me the gifts of piety and understanding. Piety, to slowly but surely devote my whole being (trust, humility and love) to the Lord and to always remain prayerful. To understand that no matter what, the Lord will always account for everything He has and will hand us.

Ad maiorem Dei gloriam.
